The first notable figure in this line was Berenguer de Codinats, a Catalan who grew up in the palace of King Jaume II of Aragon. In 1312, he moved to Valencia where he served as a notary and rational teacher across the Crown.
When King Pedro IV of Aragon marched to Sardinia in 1354, Berenguer Codinats was entrusted with governing Valencia. He supported the king's party during the uprising against the Aragonese monarch in 1367. Berenguer de Codinats owned dominions in Albalat, Benimamet, and part of Mislata. Known for his skill and high moral standards, he was part of the King's council. He carved the temple of San Esteban in Valencia and his portrait appeared on the old altarpiece kneeling at the feet of an angel, as he was visited by an angel or Saint Francis of Assisi to rebuild the Franciscan monastery of Valencia. He passed away in 1375 and was succeeded by his son Bernardo de Codinats.
Mosen Jaume Febrer mentioned in his Trovas: "Benet Codinats, son of Berenguer, was of noble blood; his father served in the war in Mallorca, and two warships were armed at his expense, for which his son was to be rewarded by King Pedro III, and he would enjoy rich honors by being appointed as a landowner Lord in Catalonia and Valencia. He depicted three red bars or sparrows on his coat of arms, on a golden field."
The Codinachs also had ancestral homes in the city of Tarragona and San Martí de Tous (Barcelona). One of the owners, Joan Codinachs, was documented in the Catalan Fogueración of 1553.
Another individual named Manuel de Codinats was married to Leonor de Valterra in Valencia, but he passed away without children, appointing Francisco Aguilón de Roméu as the heir of his estate.
Miguel de Salazar mentioned that another branch of this lineage lived in Sagunto (Valencia), originating from Zaragoza and had their own burial in one of the churches in the aforementioned cities.
King Pedro de Aragón granted a donation in Valencia on April 1, 1362, in favor of Berengar de Codinach, the third tithing of Benimámet (Valencia).
Antich de Codinacs or Codinachs and Berenguer de Codinacs or Codinachs were residents of Valencia between 1354 and 1373. Bernat de Codinats served as a juror in Valencia in 1403.
Luís Bernardo de Codinats from the castle and town of Benimámet sold all his possessions to Felipe de la Caballería, a resident of Saragossa in Valencia, between 1453 and 1478.
